How does a Saniflo toilet work?

Saniflo toilets are different than regular toilets. The waste from the Saniflo toilets does not go directly to the drainpipe. Where does the waste go from a Saniflo toilet? It goes to the waste disposal (soil track) unit of the toilet. Then, the Saniflo macerator technology converts it to liquid in a few seconds and throws it into the septic tank through the sewage line.

Does a Saniflo toilet need to be vented?

Yes, the vent is necessary for almost all Saniflo toilets. The venting system helps to regulate the air pressure in the plumbing system of your toilet. When you set up the new Saniflo toilet, you have to keep the 1-1/2 inch vent pipe with it. But, the Sanicompact 48 and Sanistar do not require the vent connection.

Are Saniflo toilets noisy?

Saniflo toilets mainly make sounds from their blades and motors. But, the modern Saniflo macerator toilets decreased the sound mostly. Significantly, the modern Saniflo toilet’s flushing sound is about 45 decibels, which is not loud at all.

What features make Saniflo toilets different?

Duo Flush System

It is the process of saving water in a flushing toilet. There are two separate flushing switches on a dual-flush toilet bowl. There are both single-flushing and dual-flushing options in these toilets. When the amount of toilet garbage is low, you can push the single switch. It will easily remove the garbage using less water (1.28 gallons). Likewise, pushing the two buttons on your toilet will use about 1.6 gallons of water.

Built-in Macerating System

The macerating system of a toilet uses a grinding or blending mechanism. It removes human waste by pumping. In this system, human waste stays in a unit behind the toilet. There is a large container to hold the garbage. Finally, the blades in the grinder are turned on, and they pulverize the waste. At last, it used a pipe to pump the garbage out of the unit and make the unit clean.

SaniPlus System

It is a ½ HP pump system. If you want to install a complete bathroom up to 15 feet below the sewer line, you can use the SaniPlus system. Even so, you can install the bathroom up to 150 feet away from a soil stack. This system is very necessary for the toilets in residential areas to easily remove garbage and tissue paper.

SaniBest System

The SaniBest is a toilet that is slightly different from the others on the market. It includes a comfortable, elongated toilet bowl. Moreover, the elegant style of the SaniBest system toilet presents an extraordinary and beautiful outlook.

Motor

The motor works in two steps. First, it pumps the waste to the sewer line level, and the blades of the motor cut down the garbage. When the toilet level is below the sewer line, the motor will work to lift the garbage. So, if your toilet stays in the deeper position of the line, you should use a more powerful motor to lift the waste.

Pump

If you want to install a pump at the toilet, it will lift the chopped solid waste to the sewage line if the line is above the toilet. But first, you have to measure the sewer line’s height. Now, install the macerator toilet according to the measurement.

Blades

It is impossible to think of an upflush toilet without a suitable blade. The garbage should be sliced into tiny pieces when it goes to the anti-gravity. Therefore, your toilet flushing system can easily dispose of the garbage, and no clog will happen.

Service Panel

Two service panels in a Saniflo toilet exist for the two different tasks. The first one gives the service contractor access to the electrical components and the level sensor mechanism. It will help to clear the toilet more easily. The second service panel works for accidentally flushed objects. It provides ready access to the basket area for removing these objects quickly.

Connections

If you want to remove the gray water from the bathtub, kitchen sink, and shower, connecting them with your upflush toilet system is possible. The pump will successfully complete the task. But you should double-check the toilet before doing this task. If the toilet cannot pump out a full tub of water, you cannot connect it.

Flushing System

The macerator toilet sends the garbage to the blade, and the blade breaks down the garbage into several pieces. Therefore, garbage removal becomes easier because the small parts of the garbage remove the clogging tendency.

What do you use to clean a Saniflo toilet?

Cleaning a Saniflo toilet is not a difficult task. Significantly, the Saniflo cleanser and descaler made the task much easier. According to the user manual, you must purchase and apply the cleaner from the Saniflo company to the toilet. Do not apply any other cleaner because they cannot work as well as this solution. Moreover, the other available cleaners may be reliable for damaging the toilet surface quickly.

Can I use bleach in a Saniflo toilet?

Using ordinary household bleach is not an admirable task. It can damage the rubber membrane quickly. Bleach is an ingredient that is reliable for several corrosions. Instead, you can use Saniflo cleaner and descaler. The Saniflo company specially manufactures the ingredient to wash toilet bowls quickly and safely.

    FAQ

    Q. How can I stop the toilet from running?
Ans. It is probably a problem with the check valve. Usually, gunk buildup on the non-return valve can prevent it from closing very well. This causes wastewater to drain back, and it restarts the pump. This issue can be rectified by removing and cleaning the valve, then returning it back. But if the valve is broken or warped, you must purchase a new one.

    Q. What are the advantages of using a toilet with a macerator?
Ans. Such toilets are very effective in performance and report fewer clogs than normal toilets. Also, a toilet with a macerator allows the user to install them in tight places and areas without sewer lines. Such places include the attic, basement, garage, etc. Macerator toilets are also great for disabled people who cannot access the full bathrooms downstairs and need a toilet to be closed.

    Q. Who should install these Saniflo toilets?
Ans. The two Saniflo toilet designs that we’ve reviewed above are best for places that do not have sewer lines or if installing a normal toilet will cost you a lot. Also, if you don’t want to break concrete or other hard places, Saniflo is a good flushing toilet for you. People with disabilities or those who are ailing and need a toilet close by are also well-off with these toilets as they can be installed in tight places, especially the Saniflo 48 one-piece toilet.

    Q. Which color is the toilet?
Ans. The two Saniflo toilet types that we’ve reviewed above come in a white finish. This color easily blends with any bathroom type, and it will add vigor.

    2. Installed for customer, due to design of pump being level with drain, create a low water level in bowl. Really not acceptable as bowl is deep, the water level is low, hopefully the picture in your mind has not upset you as the look on my customer face. Contacted tech support, within seconds realized they get this call after every install. No fix. Read online reviews from customers that state this issue and avoid Saniflo products until they upgrade their design. You can tell they were aware of design flaw due to internals had originally design fill tube which is still in unit but unable to function as pump would constantly run. Better options available. Call their tech support at 800-571-8191 and ask about water level in bowl before buying to verify my review.
