Factors to Consider when Buying a Toilet

Page Contents

  1. Flushing system

There are so many flushing mechanisms to choose from. But always ensure to pick a powerful and very efficient flushing system. A good flushing system should clear the waste in the bowl in just a single flush. One of the best flushing systems is the dual mechanism. It is highly efficient and easy to use. But you can as well go for another flushing system if you’ve different needs. Here are our recommended flushing systems: -Gravity Flush Systems (Ideal for home)
-Single Flush System (Ideal for Commercial Use)
    -Dual Flush System (Water-Saving)
    -Pressure-Assisted Flushing System (Most Powerful)
    -Tornado Flush System (Modern Toilet)
-Double Cyclone Flush System (Bidet Toilet)

  2. Bowl design

The two most commonly used toilet designs are round and elongated bowls. A few toilets are made with an oval bowl design. The most preferred elongated design as it offers comfort and more sitting area. Round bowls are suitable for small bathrooms but not thin bathrooms. Actually, elongated bowls are great for thin and big bathrooms.

  3. Toilet type

Different toilet types have different advantages. The most common types are two-piece and one-piece toilets. Another type is the tankless toilet. Two-piece toilets are easy to maintain, while one-piece toilets are easy to clean and don’t hide mold or bacteria. Also, the two-piece toilet is very easy to install as it has a separate tank and bowl. Common types of toilets from American Standard are:
    -One-piece Toilet (Easy to clean)
    -Two-piece Toilet (Ideal for home)
    -Tankless Toilet (For compact bathrooms)
    -Bidet Toilet (Modern & Water-Efficient)
    -Smart Toilet (Luxurious Choice)

  4. Water-efficiency

This varies with the needs and area of settlement. Some states, like California, don’t allow people to use toilets that are not WaterSense certified. This means that the toilet has to use 1.28 GPF or less. Other toilets use 1.6 gallons of water per flush. If you want to conserve water and reduce your water bill, the 1.28 GPF is highly recommended, and it usually clears waste in one flush.

  5. Installation dimensions

Before purchasing a toilet, you should know whether it will fit in your bathroom. Different homes are created with different dimensions. I hope there were only universal dimensions so that all toilets could fit in easily. The most standard size is a 12-inch rough-in, but there are also 14″ and 10-inch rough-ins. So, you should check before buying. Additionally, some toilets are floor mounted while others are wall mounted.

  6. Price

Of course, this is also important. Work with a budget and select a toilet within your budget. It should have the features that you’re looking for and meet your state’s regulations. Don’t be deceived by the glittering toilets; some are poorly made with a bad flush system. Check reviews and find a product that is worth your budget.

  7. Warranty

It is important that you buy a toilet with a warranty of at least one year or more. Toilets are fragile tools that need to be handled with great care. Many buyers normally complain about broken or cracked parts, and a warranty can help you get the cracked part replaced by the manufacturer.

  1. Do you recommend purchasing toilets from big box stores like Home Depot, Lowes or going to plumbing specialists like Fergusons, Morrisons? I was told big box store may sell the same items but the product is not manufactured the same and the plumbing stores have the true manufactured product. In search of toilets that flush well, quiet and above 16″ high.
Thanks for all of this info.

  2. Would the American Standard Champion toilet be the best choice for flushing lots of “solid waste” and avoiding clogs? TMI. My family and I eat healthy which means lots of fiber. We poop like a Clydesdale horse lol.
